Bert Tom
Bert’s lineage is “Nuu chah nulth” from the Tla-o-qui-aht First Nation, who’s people have been navigating the waters for over 10,000 years. For generations his family has lived in harmony with the land and sea that embrace Tofino Village and nearby Meares Island.
He is fully certified with the credentials and experience to keep you safe including:
- Small Vessel Operations Proficiency Certificate
- Marine Emergency Duties Certificate
- Marine Radio Certification
Bert’s marine experience includes:
- As a commercial fisherman trolling and gill netting salmon and herring
- Working as a deck hand on his father and uncles’ boats
- Learning to navigate the reefs and rocks around Tofino as shared by his ancestors for 1000’s of years
- Operating his boat charter business for 35 years

Furthermore, it meets all the stringent standards of Transport Canada, holding full certification to carry passengers.
